Magical Patterns Appear at the Xiaolangdi Reservoir
Xiaolangdi Reservoir, the largest water-control project on the Yellow River, attracts lots of fans recently. Since June 21, the Xiaolangdi Reservoir has been continuously regulating water and sediment, which has lowered the water level in the reservoir area and created many beautiful pictures on the dry Yellow River bed.
The Xiaolangdi Reservoir has been regulating water and sediment for nearly 40 days since June 21. It is reported that due to the heavy rainfall in the middle reaches of the Yellow River this year, together with the flood in the middle reaches and the possible influence of the Super Typhoon Lekima, the flood situation of the Yellow River is still severe in Henan province. The water-sediment regulation this time is mainly for flood prevention.
After long-term water-sediment regulation, what would the Yellow River look like? With curiosity, on August 10, along the upstream of the reservoir, the reporter found that the water level in the Yellow River has decreased greatly, showing the exposed riverbed. Many different patterns are formed by current scour and cracked mud on the dry riverbed.
With a drone, the reporter found that the patterns are like reliefs, landscape paintings and oil paintings. These naturally formed pictures are not only lifelike with smooth lines, but also very spectacular in size.
